Cases summary

Michael vs. Barclays (Woolwich)

A few years ago, Barclays took over the Woolwich but retained the brand name of Woolwich and their "Open Plan accounts". With these accounts, Barclays/Woolwich seem to be able to run up staggering totals of penalty charges in a few years. This particular claim was for £9344. Barclays also string cases out longer than any other bank liking to leave settlement until a few days before court hearings. In this one, we were due in court on 5 June and Barclays offered to settle just before the bank holiday weekend of the previous week.
